PREMISE1976.

It was the year Britain was happiest, journalists say. In spite of an oil crisis and altogether dreadful fashions, the world was happy—the muggle world, at least.

For many students at Hogwarts, it was still a carefree time. People were happy, content with rushing off to Charms just to nap, thrilled by the prospect of another Quidditch game between the school’s biggest rivals. For others, though, the world was starting to take a serious turn.

Hidden under piles of Peter Frampton records, the muggle world was in danger. A dark wizard named Lord Voldemort threatened their daily lives, though the real horror wasn’t recognized, only appearing in an occasional odd disappearance or unexplainable death. Albus Dumbledore, crusader of the good, worked hard to secretly form a society to stop Voldemort before he went too far, but it was too late—the war had started.

For now, the halls of Hogwarts are still safe. Aside from a bit of added tension and a little more hostility between certain groups of students, life is the same as always. Notes are passed, detentions are served, and Slytherins are hung upside-down by their ankles—Hogwarts is as lively as ever.
